Out with the Old and In with the New: Changing Competitive Landscapes of Telephony

Kevin Harman | January 13, 2020

It's a New Year and with a New Year come great New Year’s resolutions!! Some resolutions we make and they are simply ideals, others we stick to them and they are long term game changers: let’s hope your new Years is off to a great start with positive changes as you move forward!!

Like many things the Telephone experience is forever changing, we are now fully into IP technology and considering an older non IP capable system seems like a bad decision. Today’s modern systems are predominantly IP phones on the desk and either the Server on site or the Server in the Cloud. There still a lot of good reasons to have a phone server on site: cost, control, multiple line appearances, reliability, and integrations being a few. There’s also some pro’s to having the system in the cloud: less on premise equipment, Cloud redundancy, and Cloud Back up. Although some of the redundancy of Cloud can be obtained by simply utilizing Internet phone lines.

With these changes of how voice services are delivered we have seen some old providers get out of the game and some new ones enter. Commonly now we hear of Ring Central, 8x8, and Broadsoft. Some of the names are no longer in the game include some large players: Samsung has exited the North American Market and Toshiba closed operations and sold some parts to Mitel. Most customers with either a Samsung business telephone system or a Toshiba business telephone system will most likely find that their best option is to replace the system.

We find at NATG that while the technology often changes there is some things that do not. Customers like good service, reliable service, prompt service, and they don't like to be overcharged or held ransom. Thankfully, at NATG we have a good reputation for delivering just that – good, reliable, prompt service.  My father’s saying is that while the technology may change “in the end it all comes down to service”.

If you find yourself needing a replacement system as your Samsung, or Toshiba, or Nortel, or other old system is on its last legs, we have some great programs to help reduce some of the costs and make the transition to a new system smooth and trouble free.
